The Bluegrass Thoroughbreds perform traditional bluegrass and gospel music. The band originated in 1974 in Kentucky. In 2002, the band relocated to Arkansas.
The Bluegrass Thoroughbreds have performed throughout the U.S. and Canada at festivals, fairs, churches, private events, theatres, and theme parks such as Beach Ben, Silver Dollar City, and White Water. The band has also appeared on the KET TV show, Jubilee, and the National TV show, You Can Be A Star.
Band members James, Marcie, and Marcie K. write 85% of the material for the band. Many of their songs have been recorded by other artists in bluegrass and southern gospel.
